argus-cycle-tour -gillian-barrie-lowI volunteer at Christine Revell Children’s Home, spending two mornings a week assisting during crèche time with ‘Group B’ (kids between the ages of 18 months and 3yrs).

The little faces of ‘my kids’ have been my inspiration to get to the top of the hills while training for my first Cape Argus Pick ’n Pay Cycle Tour with my husband, Barrie (who already has 11 Argus tours under his saddle!). This 110km event was held on Sunday, 10 March 2013, and once again saw 35 000 cyclists gear up for the largest individually timed cycling event in the world. We used this great opportunity to raise funds for the Children’s Home and challenged people to sponsor us for every kilometer cycled.

WE DID IT …..110 km….EISH!!!

It was a great experience with moments of fun, moments of struggling with heat and winds, moments of pain, moments of wanting to quit and the huge moment of crossing the line together before the cut-off. We finished at 4.45.56. It was all worth it for the children of Christine Revell Children’s home!argus-cycle-tour

A big thank you to those who supported and encouraged us every step of the way, especially to Clinton and Jenni for the use of their bikes. A very special thank you to those who supported our initiative to raise funds for the children’s home – It is so much appreciated.

A total of R 14 435 was deposited into the children’s home account before the 20th March and more was expected before the end of March.
